Yuri's Night is a global celebration of human space achievement. The Fun Run will be held on April 16 and is a 5 km run/walk on the roads and trails of Challenger Seven Memorial Park. It will begin at 8:15 a.m. A 1K Kid's Run will also be held at 8:00 a.m. This event is hosted by AIAA Houston and all proceeds from this event benefit the Challenger Center for Space Science Education.

Online registration for the 2011 Yuri's Night 5K is available via signmeup.com. A mail-in registration form is also available. Registration will also be available at packet pickup on Friday, April 15 and on race morning.

Challenger 7 Memorial Park

Challenger 7 Memorial Park is located approximately 20 miles southeast of downtown Houston. Take I-45 (Gulf Freeway) and follow the signs for NASA Parkway/FM528. (Do NOT take the NASA Bypass.) Go west on NASA Parkway and Challenger Park is located less than a mile ahead on the left. Click here to generate directions with Google Maps.

The course consists of two counter-clockwise loops on the paved road, paved trails, and unpaved (dirt and grass) trails in Challenger Park. The start and finish line are next to the parking lot and pavilion. During the first lap, the course turns to go over the top of Memorial Knoll. During the second lap, the course skips this hill. Please note that this course is partly a trail run, and sections WILL BE MUDDY if there have been any heavy rains during the week prior to the race, so be prepared.

Strollers are welcome, but remember that portions of the course are "off-road."

This year we will be introducing a team component to the race. Individuals can register in teams of 3-6 people, and the 3 cumulative fastest times will be used to determine the top overall teams. There is no difference in price for individuals who wish to compete on a team; they will simply enter their team name during registration. It is also possible for a runner to place in an individual category as well as the team competition.

You may pick up your T-shirt and registration packet at On The Run, located in Clear Lake in the shopping center at the corner of Bay Area and Space Center Blvds on Friday, April 15, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. You may also pick them up on race day at the race site (Challenger Park) from 7:00-7:45 a.m.

Please note that we can only guarantee you a t-shirt in your desired size if you sign up before March 28.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall men and women finishers. Age group awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each of the 10 year age groups for males and females. Door prizes will also be awarded this year consisting of YN drink bottles, gift cards to local businesses, tickets to Space Center Houston and more. Complete results for all participants will be posted to the website.
